Traveling Nancy

Traveling around the world as far as I can go.

Flight to Brisbane and and Time with Friends in Toowoomba

Our 13.5 hour flight was not too bad and I did get about 7 or 8 hours of sleep.  Seeing the sunrise on the clouds from above was wonderful.  The sunrise from above the clouds.

You can see the tip of the plane wing glowing in this photo.

Rose took a wonderful photo of the glowing wing from her window.

We were told that we would have to declare any fruits and/or nuts when we arrived in Brisbane.  The flight attendant told me that I would have to throw them away.  To make life easier, I threw away my wonderful  gorp before I got off the plane.  When I went through customs, they told me that I could have kept it.  Oh well.

It rained a lot on our ride from Brisbane to Toowoomba.  Marnie picked us up from the depot and took me directly to the Telstra store to get a sim card for my phone.

The Carnival of Flowers was  taking place in Toowoomba right now.  Because it was raining we attended some typical indoor exhibits that were taking place.  First we went to see a quilt show.  We voted for our favorite quilt.

Then we went to a tea-pot exhibit.  There was a game where we had to find certain tea pots and record the case number where they were shown.

After we had lunch at Marnie’s, the sun came out.  Marnie took us to Picnic Point.  I loved the view of Table Top with the fog and clouds in the distance.

On a clear day we would have been able to see many small peaks and ranges.  Of course, when I saw they were selling ice-cream in the restaurant, I had to have a salted caramel cone.

There are many Magpies in the area because it is swooping season. No photos yet.

It has been a wonderful day of sharing tine with 2 of my friends from our 2014 Camino de Santiago.

Traveling has been a passion of Nancy Panitch's life and she loves seeing how people in other cultures live. Her travels have taken her to many places within the United States, Asia, Europe, South America, and Africa. Being around people inspires her and she has much gratitude for the kindred Souls that are joining together with her in body, mind, and heart. She moved from Chicago to Portland, Oregon in 1982. It was one of the best decisions of her life. While in Portland she stays very, VERY busy. She volunteers (Inter-Religious Action Network, Human Rights Council, & ushering for various theaters); attends a Unitarian Universalist church; goes hiking with groups (Cascade Prime Timers & Trails Club of Oregon) and also with individual friends. Book groups, movie group, and bridge groups occupy her time as well. Her quiet activities include yoga, knitting, Sudoku, and reading. She enjoys all of these activities, but making time to see her wonderful 4 grandchildren takes priority over it all. She is happy to share this blog and hopes to encourage others to travel.
